-
Safely communicated patient’s plan of care and current needs to Admitting Medical Surgical Nurses to ensure a safe transition from the Emergency Department to the Medical Surgical floor.
-
Advocated for patients with severely abnormal electrolyte values though POC testing and immediate communication to the Admitting Physician.
-
Efficiently promoted CAUTI prevention via aseptic technique and evidence-based protocols for foley catheter insertion and maintenance.
-
Efficiently promoted CLABSI prevention via clean technique and evidence-based protocols for IV administration and maintenance for CTa testing.
-
Promoted hygienic and respiratory function through lung secretion movement of Cystic Fibrosis patients through humidified oxygenation and deep breathing practice while receiving RSV interventions.
-
Advocated for the progression of patient’s plan of care through the collection of venipuncture lab samples and collaboration of technicians for Echocardiograms, CT, and MRI scans.
Wound Care Unit
LONG BEACH MEMORIALCARE HOSPITAL
10/23 – 11/23
-
Advocated for patient’s decisions in treatment plan when collaborating with interprofessional healthcare team during wound care rounds.
-
Addressed patient concerns and questions by promoting lifestyle change through Diabetic education in addition to discharge management of wounds.
-
Collaborated with the Wound Care Nurse team in the placement of Wound Vacs to promote optimal healing of wounds through Negative Pressure therapy.
-
Motivated patients with complicated spinal surgeries perform Passive and Active ROM exercises to promote recovery.
-
Addressed patient’s concerns through the education of effective discharge treatment/follow-up care regarding their specific diagnosis.
Observation Unit
LONG BEACH MEMORIALCARE HOSPITAL
09/23 – 10/23
-
Efficiently progressed patient’s treatment plan by advocating patient’s concerns to the interprofessional healthcare team. Examples include a patient’s need for dialysis sessions/MRI scans.
-
Addressed patient’s concerns through the education of effective discharge treatment/follow-up care regarding their specific diagnosis.
-
Advocated for the patient’s ideal discharge placement by collaborating with the Case Manager and ensuring that the patient and family’s concerns are addressed.
Trauma Orthopedics/Neurological Unit
LONG BEACH MEMORIALCARE HOSPITAL
08/23 – 09/23
-
Prioritized patient’s neurological status through the frequent usage of the NIHSS Stroke Scale assessment, compared to admitting baseline, to determine next interventions.
-
Addressed concerns from patients and their families about varying diagnosis via effective education of the pathophysiology of their condition and the current plan of care.
-
Provided optimal nutritional intake to patients with high aspiration risks secondary to stroke through the insertion of NG Tubes, continuous enteral feeding, and evaluation of residuals.
-
Collaborated with Physical Therapy to perform and educate about proper Range of Motion exercises for post-op trauma patients.
Surgical/Oncology Unit
LONG BEACH MEMORIALCARE HOSPITAL
07/15/23 – 08/15/23
-
Utilized strong nursing judgment to provide optimal nursing interventions to remediate acute pain and abnormal clinical presentations related to electrolyte deficiencies. `
-
Addressed concerns from patients and their families about varying diagnosis via effective education of the pathophysiology of their condition and the current plan of care.
-
Promoted CAUTI prevention via aseptic technique and evidence-based protocols for foley catheter insertion and maintenance.
-
Provided holistic care through the promotion of spiritual wellness and encouragement of holding space for patients and families as they undergo new cancer diagnosis.
Cardiac Monitoring Unit
LONG BEACH MEMORIALCARE HOSPITAL
06/01/23 – 07/12/23
-
Utilized strong nursing judgment to provide optimal nursing interventions to remediate acute chest pain and abnormal clinical presentations related to electrolyte deficiencies.
-
Addressed concerns from patients and their families about cardiac diagnosis via effective education of their condition's pathophysiology and the current care plan.
-
Promoted CLABSI prevention via aseptic technique and evidence-based protocols for continuous IV fluid maintenance.
-
Analyzed various EKG rhythms via continuous telemetry monitoring to assess patient conditions.
-
Provided holistic care through the promotion of spiritual wellness and encouragement of compassion for patients and families as they undergo new lifestyle changes

Projects
iPSC Based Epilepsy Monitoring with Multi-Electrode Array
My project focused on analyzing electrophysiological properties in neurons mimicking those of patients diagnosed with Generalized Epilepsy Febrile Seizures Plus (GEFS+). This was done through the genetic introduction of the K1270T mutation into control hiPSCs using CRISPR-Cas9, the differentiation of those hiPSCs to GABAergic interneurons, and the neuronal analysis of their spontaneous firing properties recorded with a Multi-Electrode Array.
Community Windshield Assessment: Corona Community
The ability to carry out a full assessment of the community has always been a central feature of community nursing practice, in recognition that an assessment of the individual, family, and community is fundamental to ensuring suitable services to those residing within the community. After performing an observational assessment and interviewing various community members, we conducted a nursing diagnosis and interventions on the community's most serious issue
Evidence-Based Project: Improving Diabetic Retinopathy Screenings
Early opportunities for DR screening via clustering Diabetic appointments will improve detection of Diabetic Retinopathy shifting focus towards prevention interventions rather than complication management. My colleagues and I collaborated on conducting a new protocol for screening and implemented an experiment to determine the intervention's effectiveness
Evidence-Based Project: Effects of Targeted Temperature Management on Post-Cardiac Arrest Patients
Previous studies have been published comparing the effects of targeted temperature management at 33 degrees Celsius and 36 degrees Celsius. After they found out that the survivability and neurological outcomes of the therapies at both temperatures were similar, it sparked major debate regarding the optimal targeted temperature management for adult comatose patients who’ve achieved a return of spontaneous circulation (ROSC) after cardiac arrest. My project consists of systematically reviewing previous studies within the past 5 years to determine if current data can support the efficacy of targeted temperature management and provide optimal parameters that can improve its effectiveness on adult comatose patients who’ve achieved ROSC post-cardiac arrest but scored a maximum of 8 on the Glasgow Coma Scale.
